Markus Schinwald's latest solo exhibition Panorma (and other satellites)

In the autumn of 2023, Phileas will present the exhibition Panorama (and other satellites), which extends from a recent collaboration between Markus Schinwald, Phileas and the Biennale de Lyon, for which Schinwald produced an installation presented as a walk-in panopticon titled Panorama (2022). Walls covered with woven textiles depicting apocalyptic motifs were interspersed with manipulated Baroque war paintings and artefacts borrowed from local museum collections. By combining these very different elements, Schinwald blurred historical and formal borders and evoked a dystopic atmosphere apparently suspended in time.
