The Mie Prefectural Art Museum in Tsu, Japan presents an exhibition of the work of internationally renowned contemporary artist Miquel Barceló (b. 1957). Producing his work all over the world, from his native island of Mallorca, Spain to the vast African desert and the Tibetan Plateau, Barceló is not only a painter but also a prolific ceramicist. This exhibition invites visitors to discover the variety of his work, across mediums, from the 1980s to the present day. Through nearly 100 canvases, works on paper and sculptures, the exhibition takes visitors to the essence of Barceló’s art, in which he develops his keen receptivity to the natural world into powerful creations.

This exhibition is made possible with the support of Mie Prefectural Art Museum Assistance Foundation, Embajada de España en Japón, Instituto Cervantes Tokio and Ambassade de France/Institut français du Japon.
