Tom Sachs
On May 8th the unveiling of specially commissioned works by Tom Sachs took place at the Lever House located on 390 Park Avenue. Large-scale, bronze sculptures are positioned in the garden and glass lobby of Gordon Bunshaft's Modernist tower. Visible from the street are 10-feet-tall sculptures of Hello Kitty (as a fountain), Miffy and My Melody characters. In the lobby, Sachs presents other bronze renderings of DuraLast and DieHard car battery towers, a garbage dumpster - recalling Minimalist sculpture - as well as skateboard quarter pipes.
