Donald Judd Curated by Flavin Judd

Donald Judd Curated by Flavin Judd

Paris Marais

6 April – 15 June 2019

Curated by the artist's son Flavin Judd, Artistic Director of Judd Foundation, this exhibition was the first solo exhibition of Donald Judd’s work in France in over 20 years. This marked the gallery's first collaboration with Judd Foundation since the announcement in 2018 of its representation by Thaddaeus Ropac.

The exhibition brought together key works selected by Flavin Judd, spanning three decades from 1963 to 1993. With a focus on freestanding floor works and wall-based works, the show constituted a diverse overview of Judd’s distinctive use of industrial materials, such as plywood, aluminium and acrylic. The works revealed a continuing investigation into the nature of space, form and material, with a particular emphasis on colour.
