Salzburg Villa Kast

Overview

Donald Baechler / Georg Baselitz / Philippe Bradshaw / Elger Esser / Gilbert & George / Antony Gormley / Lori Hersberger / Anselm Kiefer / Lisa Ruyter / Andy Warhol

To mark the 20th anniversary, we present three major exhibitions which highlight the history of the gallery from three different perspectives. A group exhibition in the gallery on the Mirabellplatz brings together major works by artists who have played a particularly important role in the gallery's 20-year history. It includes notable works by artists who already have their place in history, such as Joseph Beuys, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mapplethorpe and Andy Warhol. The focal point of the exhibition, however, consists of new works by young or already well-known artists with whom the gallery collaborates closely: Stephan Balkenhol, Georg Baselitz, Jean Marc Bustamante, Gilbert & George, Antony Gormley, Alex Katz, Anselm Kiefer, Imi Knoebel, Jason Martin, Mimmo Paladino, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Tom Sachs, etc. Distinguished local and international art historians – amongst them Normal Rosenthal, director of the Royal Academy of Arts in London – will have an advisory capacity in curating the exhibition and will contribute essays.
