Overview

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Thomas Krens will present a cross-section of the artistic cosmos of minimalist tendencies committed to purism, using modern and contemporary masterpieces on loan from the Guggenheim Museum New York.

We are pleased to announce a unique cooperation between the Guggenheim Museum New York and an internationally operating gallery for contemporary art: Thomas Krens, Director of the Guggenheim Foundation in New York, curates the group exhibition INTUITION/(IM)PRECISION for Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, based in Paris and Salzburg. The historical range extends from constructivist works of the early 20th century and works of American post-war modernism to installations, photographs and paintings created in recent years. For example, Kasimir Malevich with a Black Square (on loan from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg), Jackson Pollock with an early drip-painting and contemporary artists with commissioned works will be present in the exhibition and enter into an exciting dialogue.
