Oliver Beer Selected for the 'Mondes Nouveaux' programme

10 November 2021

Reenchanted the world is the goal of Mondes nouveaux, an innovative program that gives artists carte blanche in all fields of contemporary creation.

To invent these new Worlds, the program wagers audacity and creation. In 2022, 430 artists from all over France, including the French Overseas Territories, will design and present an original work. All disciplines will be represented - visual arts, music, writing, performing arts, design and applied arts - some of which are cross-pollinated through collective projects. All these creations will express our renewed way of being in the world and living in it.

More than 3,000 projects have been submitted to the artistic committee chaired by Bernard Blistène, former director of the Musée national d'art moderne at the Centre Pompidou. It is by paying particular attention to youth, 60% of artists under the age of 40, and to the hybridization of practices, with 85 collectives, that the projects were selected. “New Worlds” offers creators, who are becoming or already recognized, the opportunity to reveal all their energy and vitality.

In contrast to the logic of artistic commissioning, «Mondes nouveaux» offers all selected artists a territory of expression, permanent support and support from the artistic committee. The program will document the creative and design process of each work throughout the coming months. “New Worlds” has a budget of €30 million under the Government’s France Recovery Plan.
